Bugs and Bings

Kirkconnel and Kelloholm are linked mining villages in the Upper Nith Valley of Dumfriesshire more closely associated socially and historically with the coalfields of South Ayrshire. They were busy communities well into the 1960's but the loss of the mines has meant loss of social cohesion. My pages will ignore these issues (at the moment) but instead try to take you around the wildlife and landscape of the area. I shall try to take you away from coal to celandine and cuckoos.

Where are we talking about?
I hope this map helps you.
